Game-based learning
Monday, February 5th @ 6:30pm | Shreya Sunderram
This lab focuses on how to integrate game-based learning, and critical game-based learning, into the K-16 classroom. The lab will include a meta game-based learning experience, followed by a breakdown of how to move from GBL to critical GBL, and an introduction to speculative and world building pedagogies. Participants will work to create a mini-game for their classroom.
Data visualization
Monday, February 26th @ 6:30pm | Miaoling Xue
Welcome to the Data Visualization Lab! ITP will first explore the essentials of data visualization with a special focus on its applications in the humanities and social sciences. The lab will introduce you to some fascinating examples and examine a range of popular tools including PowerBI, Tableau, Gephi, Cytoscape, and various AI visualization tools. Alongside these, the workshop will engage in practical exercises using a sample dataset, where participants will collaboratively build a simple interactive visualization that skillfully blends data and logic with storytelling. The goal is to lay a foundation in data visualization techniques and empower you with the knowledge to choose the most suitable tool for your future projects.
