Summer 2021 Columbia University Foreign Language Area Studies Fellowship for CUNY Students (application deadline 2/11)

The Columbia University East Asia National Resource Center (NRC) is making a number of Foreign Language Area Studies Fellowship (FLAS) summer 2021 grants for the study of an East Asian language (Chinese, Japanese, Korean, or Tibetan) available to eligible CUNY undergraduate and graduate students.

Summer FLAS fellowships are intended to help students gain the equivalent of a year’s worth of college-level study in their target language. They support students enrolled in formal overseas programs of intensive language study at the 3rd year level (2nd year level for Tibetan) or above.

The Institute will be holding an information session for interested students across CUNY institutes on Thursday, January 7, 2021, from 4:00 – 5:00 pm ET (click here to sign up).

The application deadline for Summer 2021 fellowships is February 11, 2021, at 1:00 pm ET. Students can apply online at https://fellowships-apply.gsas.columbia.edu/apply/

Columbia’s Weatherhead East Asian Institute administers the program through the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences.
