The Second Language Acquisition Lab at CUNY Graduate Center is Looking for Spanish Speakers

Eligible participants must meet the following criteria to participate in this research study:

First-generation Spanish speakers:
1) currently 18 – 50 years old
2) came to the U.S. after age 18
3) born and raised in Spanish-speaking Latin American country

–OR–

Second-generation Spanish speakers:
1) currently 18 – 50 years old
2) born in the U.S. or arrived before age 8
3) raised by caregivers who were born and raised in Spanish-speaking Latin American country

Participants who complete the research study will be paid $15.

The total time commitment is expected to be less than 2 hours during one testing session. In the testing session, participants will listen to Spanish sentences while we record changes in pupil diameter with an infrared sensor. This technique is completely non-invasive and this research has been approved by CUNY IRB.

Testing will take place at CUNY Graduate Center, located at 365 Fifth Ave., NY, NY 10016.
