The TLC’s Mid-Winter Institute: Save the Date (1/25 – 29)

From January 25-29th, the Graduate Center’s Teaching and Learning Center will be hosting a Mid-Winter Institute, intended to provide structure to those planning or revising courses for the Spring 2021 Semester. The Institute will be open to anyone teaching at CUNY, and will feature workshops and open dialogues on the following topics:

Workshops

  • Teaching with the CUNY Academic Commons
  • Practicing Ritual as a Way to Build Community in the Classroom
  • Experiential Learning/Open Pedagogy: Rethinking Assignments
  • Cultivating Participation Using Online Polls
  • Developing an Access Statement & Resisting Deficit Perspectives on Disability and Chronic Illness in the Academy
  • Mental Wellness & Emotional Wellbeing: Grounding & Planning
  • Fostering Emotional Wellness in 2021: Strategies & Practices for All Educators
  • Mixing Synchronous and Asynchronous Instructional Modes in Online Courses
  • Teaching Labs and Pandemic STEM Teaching

Open Dialogues

  • Assignment Design Charrette
  • Abolitionist Pedagogy Open Group Discussion
  • Self-Care for Educators: Boundaries, Time Management, and Other Ways to Be Kind to Yourself This Semester
  • Drop-in Office Hours
  • Open Syllabus Writing
