University Lecturer – History/Law, Technology and Culture

Position Summary:
The Federated Department of History at New Jersey Institute of Technology and Rutgers University–Newark invites applications for a renewable non-tenure track appointment as a university lecturer in legal history or legal studies, based at NJIT, beginning the Fall 2022 semester. We seek an outstanding, dedicated teacher who can offer a range of undergraduate courses. The NJIT and Rutgers–Newark campuses are located across the street from each other in the University Heights section of Newark, with easy access to the entire metropolitan New York-New Jersey area.

Essential Functions:
The incumbent will support the Federated History Department’s initiatives in the undergraduate program in Law, Technology and Culture (LTC). Chronological /geographical area(s) of expertise are open, but the successful candidate must be able to teach legal history and/or legal studies. The teaching load is four courses per semester.

Prerequisite Qualifications:
– Ph.D. or comparable terminal degree in a relevant field – Prior university teaching experience – Evidence of effective teaching At the university’s discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be excepted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
