Join Erik Scott (Univ. of Kansas), Francine Hirsch (Univ. of Wisconsin-Madison), and Amy Knight (London School of Economics) for a discussion on Dr. Scott’s new book Defectors. Challenging our conventional understanding of Cold War divisions, this book reveals that the competition for defectors paved the way for collusion between the superpowers, who found common cause in regulating the spaces through which defectors moved. All are welcome, especially first-time annual meeting attendees. In addition to a quick overview of basic tips and tricks, orientation participants will be able to ask questions about the meeting in an informal setting, as well as meet the staff who pull the whole thing together.

This event is free and open to the public; registration is required. Can’t make it? Sign up anyway and view the recording on the AHA’s YouTube channel after the event.
