HIS 3538 – THE HOLOCAUST IN HISTORY AND MEMORY

3 hours; 3 credits – This course examines the history of the Holocaust in a transnational context. Topics may include: the emergence of modern anti-Semitism; the development of Nazism and pan-European fascism; Jewish responses to the crises of the 1930s; mass murder and machineries of destruction; collaboration and resistance; gender and the holocaust; and holocaust memorialization “after Auschwitz.” (This course is equivalent to JWS 3538.  Students will receive credit for only one of these courses.  These courses may not substitute for each other in the F grade replacement policy.)  Prerequisites: ENG 2150 and completion of Tier II in History or Permission of the instructor.
