Department of History and Geography, Assistant Professor of History

Elon University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in United States History, beginning mid-August, 2022. The candidate must hold a PhD in United States History, American Indian Studies, Public History, or a related field.  Preference will be given to candidates whose research focus is Native American/Indigenous Studies. The selected candidate will teach courses in United States History, specialization open, as well as courses in the planned new Museum Studies and Public History curriculum and within Elon’s Core Curriculum, which addresses themes related to cultural diversity and the study of race, racism, ethnicity, inequality, religion, disability, gender, and sexuality. Candidates who have experience working with a diverse range of people, and who can contribute to a climate of inclusivity, are encouraged to identify their experiences in their cover letter.
