Doctoral Student Research Grant Program

If you are a CUNY Grad Center doctoral student in your second through sixth year, you are likely eligible to apply for a Doctoral Student Research Grant (Round 18), which can get you up to $1,500 for research, travel expenses, accommodations, conference fees, a research assistant, some supplies not covered by your program, as well as other expenses not covered by your program — for libraries, databases, publication fees, and the like.

For more information about the grant, carefully read the DSRG guidelines, where you’ll find details about the grant, eligible expenses, online application instructions, and more. Please read the guidelines before asking us any questions, which we would be glad to answer.

The deadline to apply for the DSRG is January 31, 2023. However, we suggest you start applying as soon as you are able.

If you are concerned about making plans during these uncertain times, please note:

  • The spending period for this grant does not start until June 1, 2023
  • If you are awarded and for some reason you cannot go through with your original plan (e.g. the conference you planned to attend is cancelled), you will have the option of changing your original plan — with approval from your mentor. It’s a simple process we’ll gladly walk you through.
  •  You can always reach out to us with any questions at this email address. But please read the guidelines first.

NOTE: In about two weeks, on Friday Dec 2 at 12pm, we will host an info session on Zoom, where you’ll have an opportunity to learn more about the grant and have all your DSRG-related questions answered. Write to dsrg@gc.cuny.edu for the Zoom link.
