Gotham Center seeks editors

CUNY’s Gotham Center is looking for volunteer editors to join its blog, currently the only academic digital publication devoted exclusively to New York City history. Gotham builds on a newsletter of long-standing, and is now entering its third year, with very fine and growing readership from the organization’s highly-trafficked website. The blog serves as a forum to identify, promote, and review new scholarship; comment on subjects of current academic or popular interest; connect scholars and help them reach larger public audiences; and disseminate news and information about matters of interest to the NYC historical community. Presently, the blog has an editorial staff of five, and is seeking another three to five members, to grow and diversify its coverage and content. Editors are responsible for proposing ideas and soliciting material for the semiweekly publication. Junior and independent scholars with a focus on the colonial era and nineteenth century are strongly encouraged to apply. Please send a paragraph describing your work, background, and interests to Peter-Christian Aigner, the Gotham Center’s director, at paigner@gc.cuny.edu.
