NYC Votes – Absentee Ballot Voting

Registered voters can apply for an absentee ballot for the November 3 general election.


The Deadline to register to vote in the November 3rd, 2020 election is October 9th, 2020.

Registered voters can submit an absentee ballot application request via mail, online, email or fax by October 27, 2020. Registered voters may apply in-person for an absentee ballot by November 2, 2020.

Ballots will be mailed beginning on/after September 18, 2020.

For out-of-states students you can check your home state by going to vote.org [vote.org] to see if they are registered to vote or to request an absentee ballot.

Please be aware of the following NY Senate Bills:

  • S.8015-D/A.10833 Authorizes voters to request an absentee ballot due to risk of illness, including COVID.
  • S.8783A/A.10807 Authorizes voters to request absentee ballots starting this past Friday (instead of waiting until 30 days before an election).
  • S.8799A/A.10808-A Allows absentee ballots to be counted if postmarked on or before Election Day, November 3, and received by the Board 7 days after the election; OR with no postmark and received by the Board the day after Election Day.
