City College seeks adjunct for Fall

The City College Center for Worker Education is looking for an adjunct to teach HIST 44404, Labor, Technology, and the Changing Workplace (syllabus attached):

Technological change has a profound impact on both work and society. This course explores the meaning of these changes for workers, their unions and consumers. Questions related to resistance, progress and how new technologies are shaped are the main concerns of the course. Various issues and historical landmarks that pertain to the changing workplace; social and individual costs and benefits of technology; work restructuring and union responses to change will be examined 4 hr.; 4 cr.

The course is scheduled to meet Saturdays from 9:00am-12:20pm, but as our classes will be largely online for the Fall, this class is listed as a “blended” class, meeting live on Zoom from 9-11am, with asynchronous work for the rest of the time (with an option to meet in person for occasional classes).
